Van Staal VR Spinning Reels are fully sealed, fully submersible reels designed to thrive in harsh saltwater environments. Van Staal VR spinning reels are constructed of aluminum with a stainless spool shaft. A powerful, waterproof drag system allows anglers to stand up against any fish in the surf. They come from the factory with a bail but, a bail less conversion kit so you can fish them however you like (excluding the VR50 - conversion kits sold separate). Adding cut outs on the body, rotor and spool, drastically reduces weight. A Delrin ball knob makes the handle virtually weightless while remaining both reliable and efficient. Along with upgrades to the reels themselves Van Staal is also introducing left handed models, the VR151 and VR201. Now surf fishermen can fish hard without worrying about their gear, regardless of what hand you retrieve with!

*All reels will be backed with 20lb Clear Berkley Trilene Big Game Monofilament to fill the spool at no additional cost if the ordered length of braid alone does not fill the spool. To have your reel spooled with straight braid, either: 1. Order a quantity of braid that will overfill the spool and we will refund the difference, or 2. Contact Us with your request and we will promptly spool your reel and contact you with the exact length of braid to add to your order. For more detailed spooling instructions, such as the additions of leaders or topshots using specific knots, crimps, and/or hollow core splices, please Contact Us as well.
