Yamaga Blanks Galahad Jigging Rods
The Yamaga Blanks "Galahad" Jigging Rod series, consisting of one-piece models, is designed to offer power and maneuverability through a balance of bending and responsiveness, taking full advantage of the benefits of a one-piece structure. In recent years, metal jigs have become varied in terms of material, shape, and action, with numerous seasonal game patterns specific to different sea areas. Some areas also feature selective conditions due to high pressure, requiring anglers to have high adaptability. The primary goal of the Galahad series is adaptability. It combines light handling, responsiveness, and the backbone power to handle large pelagic fish, all at a high level, resulting in a model that allows anglers to utilize their diverse skills effectively.
The lineup offers 5 spinning models and 4 bait models. The 632S, 633S, and 634S models strengthen the midsection and butt for increased handling, making it easier to smoothly perform jerking with the line at an angle during slow trolling. The tip is designed to retain some flexibility, allowing for natural swimming actions with ease. The 585S and 526S models, which are specialized for vertical jigging, feature blanks with more rigidity throughout, designed for fast actions like high-pitch short jerks or one-pitch jerks. These rods provide light handling and quick responsiveness, enabling the jig to react efficiently. The four bait models are designed to improve operational responsiveness, utilizing the advantages of baitcasting reels. They cover fine lifting actions to fall actions, with a design that maintains high rebound power without being overly stiff, resulting in versatile rods that can handle a wide range of situations.
Models:
632S
This light-class model features a tip that prevents missed bites and a midsection (belly) that smoothly follows the action. It offers high sensitivity that can detect even slight changes in the current, while the flexible blank prevents hook pulls and line breaks, even when using fine-wire hooks. When under heavy load, the butt section provides a strong, controlled fight while still allowing anglers to handle the fish with confidence. By keeping the tip flexible and focusing on the midsection’s responsiveness, it’s easy to create a natural swimming motion without sharp movements. This rod excels in situations where "enticing" the fish is key, particularly in high-pressure or highly scrutinized areas. It’s a delicate yet aggressive rod, capable of handling tough battles. 633S
The Gallahad 633S is an all-around rod for nearshore jigging. It performs well in various situations, from one-pitch jerking with a detour to vertical combination jerking, offering a light and comfortable feel that attracts fish. Its high sensitivity quickly detects even subtle movements, such as fish tangling with the jig or leader, allowing you to respond quickly and switch to an effective action. The 633S is a more powerful version of the 632S model. If you primarily use jigs around 150g, the 633S is ideal, while the 632S is better for jigs around 120g.
634S
The Gallahad 634S excels at casting long jigs naturally and effectively. Its mid and butt sections transmit jig action even in deep water, fast currents, or when drifting in strong winds. With ample power, it's ideal for targeting fish like yellowtail in shallow areas and handling tough situations around reefs or rough, rocky points where strong and aggressive fish handling is required. It’s highly versatile, adapting to various situations, from basic one-pitch jerking to combination and slow-tempo jerking. This makes it a core model in the new Galahad series, capable of tackling a wide range of fishing scenarios.
585S
The Gallahad 585S is designed primarily for high-pitch games targeting yellowtail and amberjack in mid to deep waters, such as around nearshore areas and offshore islands. Its slim, short-length blank provides quick, responsive handling, allowing you to approach targets efficiently, regardless of the jig's shape. The rod also features strong butt power, capable of withstanding the pressures of PE5-class lines during a fight. Ideal for vertical fishing, this model excels in fast-paced, precise attacks on reefs, rocks, and fish schools, making it perfect for situations where quick action and presentation are crucial.
526S
The Gallahad 526S is a high-pitch specialized model designed for targeting large fish, such as big amberjack and yellowtail, typically in depths of up to 200 meters. By increasing the overall stiffness of the rod, it transmits jig action with even the smallest motions, allowing for quick handling that doesn’t feel restricted by depth. The rod bends smoothly yet powerfully, offering a reliable fight with strong butt power for handling unexpected big fish. This model is highly recommended for anglers looking to take on serious battles with thick lines and strong drag tension.
622B
The Gallahad 622B is a baitcasting model designed for light lines, up to PE2, and focused on responsive handling. It provides smooth, quick action and excels in situations where precision is key. From swimming actions led by the tip, to short-pitch jerks and fall actions driven by the mid and butt sections, this rod adapts to various situations, creating effective enticing actions for approaching targets. It’s ideal for delicate fishing with light lines, making it perfect for targeting species like amberjack and yellowtail.
623B
The Gallahad 623B is the core model of the Gallahad baitcasting jigging series, designed for use with PE3-class lines. It allows for smooth, continuous action, whether you're using slow-tempo one-pitch jerks, long falls, or high-pitch jerks, and it adapts well to a variety of actions and jigs. With its finely tuned sensitivity, this rod excels at making precise pitch adjustments, allowing for delicate and effective presentations. Packed with all the essential features for baitcasting jigging, it offers excellent handling and is ideal for targeting species like amberjack, yellowtail, and giant amberjack with a technical approach.
624B
The Gallahad 624B is designed to target challenging species like yellowtail and amberjack with PE4-class lines. Its slim, responsive blank effectively transmits jig action, making it ideal for precise high-pitch jerks as well as slow fall actions, offering a variety of enticing movements to approach your target. Particularly effective in areas with fast currents or deep waters, this rod leverages the excellent response of baitcasting tackle, allowing you to hook fish exactly as you envision. It’s perfect for experiencing the true thrill of jigging.
526B
The Gallahad 526B is a baitcasting model with the same blank as the 526S. Designed for targeting large amberjack and yellowfin tuna at depths of up to 200 meters, this bait model reduces fatigue and strain during high-pitch reeling, even in conditions with two-layered currents. It also allows for precise action control while closely tracking changes in tidal pressure. After a strike, the rod bends with resilience, offering versatility for fights, whether you're using a fighting belt with the rod held upright or fighting with the rod tucked under your arm.

About Yamaga Blanks-
Rod building is a craft that Yamaga Blanks, a sister company with Ripple Fisher, has been perfecting since 2008 in their factory in Kumamoto, Japan. The craftsmen that work on these rods are seasoned and often have discussions with the designers to create a better product. Rods are repeatedly tested to make them tougher, lighter, and easier to fish.
