Zenaq Tobizo "Type R" Popping Rod

zenaq-logo.png

Encompassing over 20 years of experience in building offshore popping rods, the Tobizo offshore rods are the pinnacle of Zenaq's innovation. Translated from Japanese, "Tobizo" means "distance", and this is what this rod excels at. Built from the ground up with new Toray T1100G carbon which also features nano-alloy technology, this material gives the rods immense lifting power for their weight, through a parabolic action which is designed to beat on the fish, instead of the angler, while also giving the angler long casts to target busting fish from yards away. All rods are built with a proprietary Zenaq hexagonal front grip which gives the angler maximum grip strength, while also allowing for precise lure control when working stickbaits or poppers. Tobizo “Type R” rods are finished with Fuji Ocean Guides.

What is Type R?

“RACING” concept to always stay on the cutting edge. ZENAQ breaks down stereotypes and constantly challenges the status quo. The Type R inherits this spirit. Experience its outstanding performance in the field.

Hexagonal reel seat and grip

The Type R features a newly developed ZENAQ Hexagonal reel seat and grip with the following advantages:

  1. The high strength, long fiber carbon of Toray Industry’s TORAYCA® is composited with a special molding machine to form a sturdy framework. Even large reels will be held firmly without wobbling.
  2. The surface of the framework is covered with a special rubber to create a new feeling of comfort in the hands. Rod action is easy with no need for unnecessary force.
  3. Like the hexagonal grip, the reel seat is also hexagon-shaped to suppress left and right reel rattling, transmitting power without loss. This can conserve hand strength, which is the first to wear out, and increase the probability of catching a big fish.
  4. A rubber cushion has been devised for the area where the reel foot rests. This prevents the reel from loosening even if it’s not strongly tightened, preventing the reel from rattling even in hard fishing. Rod and reel are perfectly integrated.

Single-wrapped Guides

The single-wrapped guides create a feeling closer to the original blank design, minimizing interference with rod action. They aim for sharp rod action and a sharp swinging feeling with better balance and reduced weight. Balance is further enhanced with a new butt cap that is 10g heavier.

Redesigned Guide System

T-RVSG40 is used as the butt guide to ensure further smooth line release with large reels and heavier line systems.
Zenaq's original assist guide is equipped in the tip section to minimize line trouble and keep anglers from missing any big chance.

Note that the Type R models weigh slightly more due to the counter balance weight on the butt section, but the rod is more balanced.

***Due to our distribution agreement with Zenaq, we are unable to supply their rods outside of the 50 U.S. States, U.S. Territories and Canada. We apologize for any inconvenience.***
